Well, I have a couple D元60 G6's and no drives. Oh, and it sucks down a lot more power than the M圜loud. Searching ebay for supported drives, the best I could hope for is about $25 per HDD and in the end after all the $$$ outlay for disks, the only advantage I get over a WD M圜loud 4TB is that the used drives are in a RAID5 rather than be a single new drive. The SATA version still has a limited number of drives it supports, and maxes out at 1TB. Yes, it has two web interfaces on the rlink, and the /poweruser one is not documented clearly in the manual, just in the "Local expander firmware" package I found. And has some notable differences in the poweruser (not the standard) web interface. Seems this is more accurate of the device I have on my Rack'n'Roll:Īnd if you look closely at the PDF in my original post, that is for a JetStor SAS 412iS. EG, someone trying to sell HP SAS 10K 147GB drives for $50 each. I live in a place where normally used gear is rare and pricey, and we have a public e-waste recycling system which means less stuff (particularly HDDs) floating around 2nd hand. In this case, I only have so many 3.5 SATA drives, and dividing them between the two devices would leave the resultant storage very low in each. I don't want to have gear just to hoard it.

Thunderdome - Mad Max movie reference, two go in, one comes out. My freeNAS is providing all 3, so I could practice and experiment with vMotions between different storage options. I was all set to get rid of the FreeNAS, when I learned as I set up the JetStor that it ONLY does iSCSI targets.

It works, once I dug through my ISO archive for an old version that didn't refuse to install on sight.Ī while after that, I landed the D元60s, JetStors, and UPS in what was barely more than an approved dumpsterdive (all the serious buyers had backed out). In the Lab space, I'd set up FreeNAS on an old whitebox with like 1Ghz and 2GB RAM, and whatever drives I had on hand.
